The Mambo Jambo Playlist (MJPlaylist) was built to assist people in generating playlists that are more akin to the way broadcasters want to make playlists....It is intended as a start on a project that may grow and be enhanced depending on popularity...

What it does :

Generates a playlist based off a base set of content and user-defined rules.

Ok, so what kind of rules ?

There are 3 types of rules, General Rules (which ideally would apply to all kinds of content), Base Rules (which apply to your base content - which BTW is your base playlist), and AddIn Rules (which apply to your add in content)...AddIn content is stuff which you will be adding to your base playlist at predefined intervals.  This is meant for things like jingles and promos and stuff of that nature.

Right on, so what is supported in this version ?

The following rules are supported :

General Rules :

- Group Together. This allows you to group together songs that match specified text. These groupings will be treated as whole units when building the resultant playlist.  This is designed to keep together tracks in your playlist that you don't want split up by the add-in content.  Something like a 30 minute mix of various songs which need to be kept as a unit.  You can specify the grouping criteria by either matching on filename or full path to the file.  You can also group together tracks "starting with" or "containing" the specified substring.

Base Rules :

- Ordering.  Right now the only ordering that is supported is Random.. Sequential will be added eventually.

Add In Rules :

-  Random. This will pick a random Addin content entry that meets the specified criteria.  An example of one of these rules would be "Random,Contains,Filename,promo,10,Songs" which means, "every 10 songs in the resultant playlist, pick a random entry from the add-in content that contains 'promo' in the filename"

So that's it ?

Yep, like I said, this is just a start, if it becomes popular, then I will add more rules and more configuration options....Stuff that I think will fit in nicely is rules which define DMCA compliant playlists..There is alot that can be added to this....

So is this Beta or what !?

consider it to be "prototype" quality...yes, something like a very functional prototype...

Alpha 4 Updates

A bit of memory overflow was causing some really nasty problems...my apologies to all...it's much better now...

Alpha 3 Updates

Added new Base content rule "Exclude Addin Rules" which will exclude any files matching your addin rules from the resultant playlist.  This is good for when you are feeding the build playlist back into the

generator for generating new add in content.

Generate to Winamp - you can now generate the playlist directly to Winamp (you used to have to first generate it to disk and then to winamp, now you can do it right to winamp)

Now it loads the last .mjc file you loaded at startup.

Added a remove all base content button.
