gen_lyricfind
What The Heck ?
This winamp plugin was created
in an attempt to make it easy for you to associate lyrics with
your vastly growing MP3 collection. Lyricfind (www.lyricfind.com)
has done an incredible job of centralizing an archive of song
lyrics as well as providing a nice searchable interface into
it...So, in an attempt to make the ultimate lyric plugin I
created gen_lyricfind. What does it do, you ask ? Well, simply
enough it allows you to browse for lyrics of the songs you play
in winamp. It stores the lyrics in a local cache (max 100
entries) and associates them with the MP3s in your collection and
will optionally display them when you play it in winamp. The
lyrics come directly from Lyricfind's huge archive of lyrics.

Better Description
Ok, so here how to use the
plugin :
1. Load up your favorite
playlist in winamp and start playing an MP3
2. Right click on the playlist
and you should see a couple new menu items

You can see there are three new
menu items,
1) Browse for Lyrics by Artist
2) Browse for Lyrics by Song
3) Generic Search for Lyrics
Let me describe what each one of
these does...
Browse for lyrics by
artist
By selecting this menu item the
plugin will contact the lyricfind archive and popup a list of
matching entries for your MP3. Simply select the correct song
from the list and you have now associated the selected lyrics
with this MP3. The next time you play this MP3 the plugin will
open the locally cached lyric file and display it automattically
(you can turn this off).
Browse for lyrics by song
This is the same as the one
above, but the search results are by song title not by artist.
Generic Search for Lyrics
If your MP3 has a corrupted ID3
tag or is not named properly, then you can select this menu
item...This will allow you to do a freeform search on the
lyricfind archive.
Configuration Options
Well, there isn't much but these
are the configurable options :

- Disable Plugin
Turns
everything off.
- Disable Lyricfind
MiniBrowser Integration
If
this is enabled, then if you have associated the
currently playing MP3 with a lyric already, then it will
appear in the winamp minibrowser automatically.
- Cache Files Directory
Where
local lyrics are stored. You must create this directory
manually.
- Max Cache Entries
Err....the
max cache entries.. :) (can't be more than 100 sorry)
